In Doll Bones by Holly Black, you learn about three kids going on an adventure that will change their lives. It could be a good experience for them or it could break them apart possibly for forever.
The three main characters Poppy, Alice, and Zack are going on an adventure to make sure that their lives don’t become miserable. They have to go to the Spring Grove Cemetery almost two hours away from their homes and not let their parents know. This is easy for Poppy for her parents don’t pay attention to anything when they get home from work which they are at work all day. This is a little more difficult for Zach but he was able to make up an excuse that he will be back that evening. However this is almost impossible for Alice because her grandmother never lets her be late. Alice was at a sleepover with Poppy and when her grandmother gets there Alice could be grounded for life. Will the three kids make it home in time and will they get the one thing that they have to do in order not to have their lives more miserable than they already are?
Doll Bones is realistic fiction and would be suitable for people who are into adventure, a little bit of mystery, and a little bit of spookiness.
