The Wonder Show By Hannah Barnaby

Portia Remini is leaving again but this time it’s her own choice. Wonder Show by Hannah Rogers Baraby is an amazing  fictional book that seems surprisingly real. Portia, a 13 year old girl, was left at The Home for Wayward Girls by her aunt. Portia only has one friend who she might have accidentally murdered. She escapes The Home and goes to the Wonder Show to look for help, her father, and  a job. She gets a job doing “ballyhoo”, which means she spends her time advertising the Wonder Show. Men are looking for her, but can she hide in the mess of Mosco’s Traveling Wonder Show? Wonder Show shows how hard life is without family or anyone that cares about you.

I loved this book because  every chapter you are in another persons point of view and another way of looking at the situation. Gideon, Portia, the narrator, and all the “human marvels”all show how they feel personally in at least one chapter. This can help you understand how people think of Portia and Gideon, otherwise known as the normals. Hearing other characters talk about Portia helps you connect to her and the other characters in the book.
