Hello, fellow readers. I think Nikki Loftin’s new book called Nightingales Nest is my favorite adventure book of all time, taking out Origami Yoda from the top.
The gist of the book is about a girl named Gayle whose voice can heal when she sings who tries to help a boy named John Jr.(Little John) family is grieving over the death of his sister. The girl is a foster kid who has problems with every kid that doesn’t understand her. This book is heartwarming and it will bring tears to your eyes. What I like about the writing style is it has a simple life touch to it. There are no pictures, but there are pictures of nightingales on each chapter page.
Nikki understands kids and how they think. A quote from her book says “Why won’t you climb my tree Little John?” “Because tree’s are lumps of wood waiting to be cut down, after my sister jumped off of that tree and died.” I feel this book is wonderfully written and creatively put together.
