Zombie Baseball Beatdown Book Review
I read a book called Zombie Baseball Beatdown by Paolo Bacigalupi. It is about three boys who are trying to stop a zombie apocalypse with baseball bats. If you are interested in this book, keep reading my book review. If you are not, scroll down and read the review under this one.
Since you continued reading, here’s more about the book. The three boys’ names are Rabi, Miguel, and Joe. They live in a small town where Millrow Meats, a greedy company that will do anything for money, starts making their cows super cows knowingly giving them a zombie virus that turns people into zombies if they get bitten or eat the cow. Rabi is the main character and he plays on a baseball team with Miguel and Joe. He likes the strategic part of everything, especially baseball because he can't hit. Miguel is a kid whose family worked at Millrow Meats until Millrow Meats calls I.C.E. on them and Miguel is left alone with a grudge against Millrow Meats. Joe is an average American boy with a habit of getting in trouble. The three boys decide to try to stop the zombie apocalypse with baseball bats as weapons and lots of sweaters as armor (in the summer heat). As author Paolo Bacigalupi says, “Can three boys with baseball bats stop a zombie apocalypse? Probably not. But they're going to kick butt trying.”
I really liked this book because it was really funny in a way that serious conversations are funny. I also liked this book because I play baseball and it was nice to see baseball turned into a way of saving the world. I think these two things were a cool mix because baseball is a very fun and useful sport. It just takes a zombie apocalypse for people to realize it. I also think it’s really cool that three young boys with baseball bats even tried to go up against a zombie army and didn’t underestimate themselves and run away from the zombies like it wasn’t their problem. I recommend this book to people who play baseball, like funny books, or are looking for a good read.
I think adventures are really cool and science fiction always adds a cool twist to things. This book was an adventure/science fiction story. Science fiction books also give you room to imagine because, in this book, there weren’t any pictures. So I had to think of what things looked liked because I couldn’t see the characters. I like to do this because I have fun imagining. If you like imagining, science fiction or adventure, I think you should read this book.
