The Mouse With The Question Mark Tail by Richard Peck

The Mouse with the Question Mark Tail

Looking for a great new adventure to read? Then the The Mouse With The Question Mark Tail is for you. It is a mousetastic book! The author of this wonderful book is Richard Peck.  As many mice would say “every time a human walks out of a room something with more feet walks in”. This is how this fascinating book begins. It is a book about the smallest  mouse in Buckingham Palace finding out who he is and what he is to become.

The book is set in London, England at Buckingham Palace and the Royal Mews. The smallest mouse at the Royal Mews Mouse Academy is Mouse Minor - not his real name. He has many questions about himself and who his parents were and also why his tail is in the shape of a question mark. Mouse Minor doesn’t know who he is and what his real name is though he hopes to find out. At school he faces problems with bullies and decides to run away and ask Queen Victoria herself about all the questions he has and find out who he is.This adventure takes place on the week of the Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee.

The author, Richard Peck, does a amazing job of creating interesting and believable characters. He also captures bullying very realistically and I immediately sympathized and cheered for Mouse Minor. Helping to bring this fun story to life are the beautiful illustrations by Kelly Murphy. This book is a fun and interesting adventure. A great read for people who like adventures, are animal lovers and those that like history too.
