Hello book readers! I read the book Mockingbird by Kathryn Erskin. This book is realistic fiction. I do read a lot of realistic fiction and by far this book is one of my favorites.
The main character Caitlin is a ten-year-old girl with Aspergers. Caitlin goes to James Madison elementary, where she is teased for being too “weird”. Caitlin’s brother was killed in a bad shooting. Everbody in the book is grieving and finding their own path to closure. Caitlin and her dad don’t know what’s ahead of them so they are taking it one step at a time.

Kathryn puts a good amount of humor, sadness and much more in the story. She always is making you wonder…”what if this happened to me?” She shows you how some kids act, like some can be super mean when others can help stand up for you. Go see for yourself how Caitlin and her dad get through this hard time together and with the help of other friends.
