Will in Scarlet is a fantastic book by Matthew Cody! I was hooked right away with the epic and worrying beginning. It is a fiction book based in the medieval times. There are a lot of cool words you might have never seen before such as “treason”. It is one of the best fiction books I’ve read.
The main character, Will Shackley, is young Lord and will be in control of Shackley Castle when he comes of age (turns 18) and when his father dies. Until then, his Uncle is in control of the castle while his father is at war. Will has to learn history and how to read (like school) but he isn’t doing that, he’s playing with Milo a kid working at the stables and a maid named Jenny. But, someone has taken over the castle. Also, Will’s family is in trouble and he doesn’t know where to go!
Matthew Cody created an amazing plot. All of the surprises were unexpected and had a big and interesting impact on the story. The characters were all different and have great background stories.The author did a great job making the characters seem extremely real. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys pageturners, battle scenes and fiction, but not if violence scares you!
